News: Matt Eley breaks long-standing Ely Cycling Club record

Matt Eley has broken a 22-year-old Ely Cycling Club record.

In the API-Metrow 25, Eley finished with a time of 52min 28sec, which beat the record for the distance previously held by Alan Newark.

There was a huge demand to take part in the event with 150 other riders and a cut off time of 57.24 for previous events.

Newmarket-based rider Matthew Smith won the event for TeamVeloVelocity with a time of 48.20.

In the VTTA 10, Ely riders Darran Bennett (21.48), Robert Golding (21.49) and Phil Gosling (22.06) all recorded personal best times.
