Ciaran Donnelly’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, even though they dominated proceedings.
Rovers scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute when they capitalised on a defensive mistake to extend their lead over The Seasiders to eight points, having played a game extra.
Blackpool had many chances and went agonisingly close when Sam Roscoe headed onto the bar from a corner.
Bright Osayi-Samuel was constantly a threat down the left wing but the youth team lacked composure in the final third.
Despite the result there were still plenty of positives for the team to take from the performance.
“Our general play, our creative play was excellent throughout the game,” Donnelly said.
“Our all-round performance, our hunger, our desire, our willingness to play the right way in terms of how we try and play as an academy, our philosophy of playing good, attractive football was excellent.
“On another day we could have scored four or five goals, and should have scored four or five goals.”
