Macauley Wilson’s seventh goal of the season wasn’t enough to prevent the youth team losing 2-1 against Wrexham.
The visitors took an early lead within the first ten minutes after a defensive mistake allowed Leo Smith to thread the ball through to Johnny Smith who scored from a tight angle.
The Seasiders hit back in the 20th minute, though, as Wilson headed home Rowan Roache’s inch perfect free kick.
Wrexham re-took the lead halfway through the second-half when Tom Creamer’s shot from the edge of the box took a massive deflection off a Blackpool defender and looped over Jack Sims.
Overall, it was a disappointing loss for Ciaran Donnelly’s side who were looking to capitalise on this game in hand to rise up the North West Youth Alliance table.
Donnelly said: “It was a poor performance on our behalf and, on the whole, they deserved the win.
“It ends our ambition of winning the league but we now need to try and finish as high up the league as we can.”
