Jennifer McIntosh is looking forward to getting started after departing for the Rio 2016 Test Event just a few days ago.
Whilst competing out there in Rio, it is also an opportunity to explore some of the country before the Olympics in August.
The weather in Rio de Janiero is around 30°C at this time of the year but McIntosh is prepared for the challenges that it could pose.
Speaking before she left, McIntosh said: “I’m excited about heading out. It is going to be great to see the range and experience some of the city ahead of August.
“When I’m out there I’m hoping to get a feel for the place and learn everything I can. My preparation for the tournament is going well and I feel on top of things.
“I think it will be pretty hot and that always brings challenges but it’s nothing that I’ve not dealt with before so I’m not too concerned about it.”
As well as the support of her family, McIntosh will also be helped by the team leader, Phil Scanlan.
“Phil is a great guy and I really like having him around because he’s got a very chilled manner and is a great calming influence because of that. He will be a great asset for the team.”
