Match Report: Fine Form Continues For Youth Team

The youth team extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a great 4-1 win away to Carlisle United.

After going behind to the home side, Will Dunne equalised before half-time. Denzel Williams headed Blackpool ahead after the restart, before Rowan Roache and Finlay Sinclair-Smith added gloss to scoreline.

The two sides, both yet to taste defeat, came into this match full of confidence, but it was Carlisle who drew first blood.

A ball over the top of the defence fell to Max Brown who scored to put the home side ahead just a few minutes into the game.

After conceding early, The Seasiders composed themselves and threatened the Carlisle goal.

Shortly after the goal Dylan Sumner had a shot blocked before having seeing another effort go off target.

In the 25th minute Blackpool won a corner after Caleb Richards had a cross blocked. The resulting corner was scored by Dunne, who deflected the ball into the back of the net from Richards’ shot.

Sumner came close again after the equaliser after controlling Badu’s cross but was denied by Morgan Bacon’s save.

The second-half started slowly, with the two sides battling in midfield.

Sinclair-Smith had a shot tipped over the bar in the 65th minute by Bacon.

Just a few minutes later Roache crossed the ball into the box from a free-kick that Williams headed into the back of the net.

In the 80th minute Richards forced Bacon into a fingertip save, but the lead was extended by Roache moments later when he scored with a sublime finish from a tight angle in the 83rd minute.

With a two-goal lead, Ciaran Donnelly’s side were playing with confidence and that was emphasised by the fourth goal.

A high ball fell to Sinclair-Smith when he was 30 yards away from goal and he scored with an incredible volley on his weaker foot. It was the winger’s second goal in successive games since returning from an injury that he picked up in pre-season.

Overall, it was a deserved win for the youth team against a tough Carlisle side.
