The youth team’s unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 loss away to Walsall.
The hosts scored either side of the interval through Ethan Freemantle and Will Shorrock.
There was a cagey start to the top of the table clash, with both sides taking a while to settle into the game.
Blackpool, without the likes of Jack Sims, Christian N’Guessan and Rowan Roache, struggled to create any chances and fell behind just before half-time to the first shot of the game.
A clever free-kick routine led to Freemantle having a shot on goal that went past Craig Thordason, who was making his debut in goal.

The Seasiders improved after the break and had two blocked shots in quick succession.
Tyler Rufus had an effort blocked before Liam Robinson shot from inside the area, but it was also stopped by a defender.
Just after the hour mark Rufus laid the ball off to Dylan Sumner, who had a shot blocked from the edge of the area.
At the other end The Saddlers hit the woodwork after shooting from a low ball across the face of goal.
The hosts doubled their lead in the 79th minute.
Thordason did well to stop an initial shot but the rebound of the save fell to Shorrock who scored past the helpless goalkeeper.
Ciaran Donnelly’s side came close to pulling a goal back through Rufus, who produced an acrobatic shot, but the effort was stopped by a defender just off the line.
Next up for the youth team is a crucial Youth Alliance Northern Cup group game against Morecambe. With both sides on six points in the group, they will face each other to decide who will top the group and advance to the quarter finals.
