Youth Team Fight Back To Beat Burnley

The youth team came back from behind in dramatic fashion to win 2-1 against Lancashire rivals Burnley on Saturday.

The Clarets went ahead in the first-half through Tinashe Chakwana’s tap-in from a corner, but Dylan Sumner headed Ciaran Donnelly’s side level after the interval.

With the game heading for a draw, Seb Des Pres tricked the Burnley defence by passing a free-kick to Christian N’Guessan, who rifled a shot into the top corner.

The Seasiders started the game well and came close to scoring through Will Dunne, who had a low shot that went just wide of the post.

Shortly after the half-hour mark the visitors broke the deadlock from a corner. The ball was headed against the post and Chakwana pounced on the rebound to give Burnley the lead.

Jack Sims made a great save to deny a second goal in quick succession, as Blackpool ended the first-half on the back foot.

After a disappointing first half, Donnelly’s side came flying out of the blocks and just minutes after Sumner rose highest to head in from Sinclair-Smith’s cross.

Sinclair-Smith came close to scoring himself shortly after the equaliser with a curling shot, but it was palmed away by the goalkeeper.

At the other end, Sims was forced into a reflex save to deny a header from the close range.

In the 85th minute, The Seasiders took the lead for the first time in the match. Seb Des Pres’ free-kick was cleared but the referee ordered it to be retaken due to a Burnley coach being behind the goal.

In the second attempt, the American midfielder tricked the defence by passing the free-kick to N’Guessan, who found the top corner.

The youth held on to secure the win and their three-point lead at the top of the North West Youth Alliance table.
